• 🎥 For school leavers who want to work in film - Famous filmmaker Franc Roddam, best known for iconic film Quadrophenia, is partnering with Teesside University to support students aiming to study film and television production. A £60,000 scholarship fund will support 10 UK undergraduate scholarships for incoming students on the BA (Hons) Film & Television Production course.

• ✏️ Free poetry resources for KS 2&3 classrooms - RSPB & National Literacy Trust have teamed up to create free ‘Our Writing from Nature’ resources for schools. The resources comprise:

  • A complete handbook of five poetry lessons and three Wild Challenges

  • A collection of poems and poetry links to be used in the lessons

  • A homework worksheet

  • Links to National Literacy Trust’s Young Poets programme and the RSPB’s Wild Challenge programme

• 🎤 Have you heard of Media Cubs in Manchester? - Media Cubs, the pop-up TV studio and newsroom club for children, delivers after-school clubs and virtual clubs and has just been awarded £21,600 to continue delivering to schools (they’ve already reached 1,000 kids). A growing number of their events are fully-funded, so if you think it would be interesting for your school, make an enquiry about an event in your area!

• 🧠 Does having ADHD optimise creativity? - Research shows that those with ADHD are shown to have better skills in creative cognition, conceptual expansion and innovative thinking. Interesting to know for any students you know who suffer from ADHD! Help them channel their energy!

Some exciting new findings have recently been published about pay increases in the Creative Industries. Here are the key takeaways:

Employed creatives 👇

• Creative roles are all paying at least 15% more in 2022 than they were in 2021.

• Content Editors are leading the pack, with 12 months’ pay now beginning at £38,000 (36% higher than 2021)

• Social media managers are up 25% to £35k

Freelance creatives 👇

• 2021 saw an average increase in day rates of around 31% since 2019, with freelancers earning on average £368 a day

• The average project length across all work disciplines was 48 working days (9 weeks)

• Freelancers in data, market research and strategy are the highest paid

• The lowest paid are studio freelancers, social media and client services
